Tonia praised the mussels, which she deemed a must-try, showcasing the restaurant’s knack for elevating simple ingredients into extraordinary experiences. “ I was extremely impressed by the quality of the food at @lupinslondon, and it certainly was worth getting drenched in the rain, getting to it! This restaurant, in Southwark, is a short walk away from Borough tube. The dining area is upstairs and quite intimate. I would strongly suggest making a reservation for this reason as otherwise you may not get a table. The menu is made up of snacks and plates. I didn't realise that the plates were small sharing plates. We were recommended about 3/4 between us with snacks, but we just stuck to the plates. This did mean I spent more than I had expected. We had citrus, tomato, olive, and straciatella chanterelles, braised cannellini beans, and goats curd cod, Jerusalem artichoke and cream pan sauce grilled red mullet, saffron aoili, fennel, and caper salad I loved the citrus dish! The orange complemented the straciatella really well. Although the red mullet was tasty, the bones bothered me. I'm not good at deboning fish. For desserts, we shared tarte tatin with creme fraiche. For someone who doesn't have a dessert tooth, I really enjoyed this and could have easily had my own. In total, the bill was just over 80. We had a couple of complimentary soft drinks and no snacks. If you factored drinks and snacks, it would easily be 100 for 2. However, you'd be really pleased by the experience. ”
“ Wonderful experience! The food was incredible, very creative with interesting combinations of flavors. The ingredients were all of very high quality and from local producers. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was cool and relaxed. Slightly louder than ideal but overall very nice. The best thing was definitely the mussels! ”
“ We had a brilliant meal and the staff were amazing and so friendly. Highly recommend. ”
“ (I replaced my previous review about a home delivery kit during covid, we eventually got to eat at the restaurant in person!). My partner and I had a lovely lunch at Lupins at the weekend. We sat outside in the sun and felt as though we were on holiday. We tried a selection of vegetarian dishes, each one was stunning. My partner also tried a fish dish which was excellent. Save room for the desserts!! inside the restaurant is very cute, the perfect place for a cosy date night. I wrote a review for my blog so took quite a few pictures which I'm sharing with you. ”
“ We had an amazing lunch at Lupins. Every dish was fantastic! We live in London and think Lupins is completely underrated. Their small plates are fantastic- the salty crisps with parma ham and pickled peppers were so clever, the asparagus with a tartar style sauce was delicious, cheese fritters are a must order and the chocolate ganache with olive oil has been on my mind since our visit three weeks ago. Beautiful restaurant in a good location. Service was friendly, warm and quick. Would highly recommend! ”
“ Loved everything about our evening at Lupins. Perfect food and service. The food was innovative without being too fussy and plates big enough to get a full taste - without being too big. Cheese fritters were amazing! Many thanks to our waiter - attentive and friendly. Can't wait to come back. ”
“ Though dishes are in smaller portions the quality is top notch. Well presented with attention to details. Staff who served us was very nice and made you feel warm. ”
“ One of the most memorable meals I’ve had in a while - really delicious food - small plates but I thought the portions were pretty large and easily shared between two. Insane cheese fritters, delish risotto and the crab thermidor was to die for! Highly recommend and can’t wait to return! ”
